Guitar Chords illustrated at the 5th fret of the positions of the A minor scale and the C major scale.
In your homework assignment, you were asked to figure out how to construct the gutiar chords in the key of C major over the 5th fret position of the guitar fretboard. The illustrations below show the guitar chords from the key of C major that can be played in the 5th fret position.
The guitar chords in the key of C major are: C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am and Bdim.
The images below, show two ways to play the notes of the C major scale. The A Aeolian mode has the same notes as the key of the key of C major.
You can use these images to see how all the chords from the key of C major below are formed.
The seven images below, illustrate how to play each of the seven guitar chords from the key of C major. The chords are played at the 5th fret position.
The root note of each guitar chord below have been circled. Practice each of these chords and when you memorize them, move them around to different keys. For example, by moving the Am chord illustrated below up to the 7th fret, it would now be the Bm chord. By moving the C chord up two frets to the 10th fret, you would be playing the D chord. Try to move all these fingering patterns around. Learn how to play each of these chords and see how they relate to the notes of the C major scale. Strum each chord and play the major scale illustrated and see how well it sounds over each chord.
Good luck,
