G major and guitar scale exercises

The illustrations below will show you how to play guitar exercises in the key of G major using the type 3 fingering starting at the VII position of the guitar fretboard. In the first illustration below the suggested fingering pattern has been included and is recommended to be followed.

In the last illustration below, the guitar exercise jumps to a different location of the guitar fretboard and the fingering has been included as well. Once you learn this guiar scale exercise, it should be transposed to other keys. By moving all the fingering patterns two frets higher you would be in the key of A major. Lowering all the fingering patterns by two frets would be in the key of F major and so on. It's always a good idea to play to some type of metered beat, maybe a metronome or drum beat. Start out slow and alternate the guitar pick up and down when appropriate. You can also try to use hammer-ons and pull-offs to get you moving around.
