All the guitar chords below are root 6 bar chords. These guitar chords are determined by the note on the Low E string. When I say the root 6, I am saying the root of each chord is played on the Low E String or the 6th string.
For example, the F major chord has the notes or F, A and C. The F note is the root or 1 of the F chord. In other words, the major chord is made up of the 1st 3rd and 5 notes. The minor chord is made up the 1st flat third and 5th.
Notice the F chord below. You would bar the chord F chord at the 1st fret position. The notes would be F, A and C. Notice that you can play the F minor chord in at the 1s fret as well. If you moved the same fingering pattern to the 3rd fret, you could play the G major chord and the G minor chord. You can use the same fingering pattern for all the chords illustrated below. Notice that when you play the root 6 minor chord, you just lift the middle finger to convert from the major chord to the minor chord.
