There are times when the minor pentatonic scale is referred to as the blues scale. But, to play the blues scale we need to add one additional note. I would like to compare the Am pentatonic scale to that of the A blues scale.

The illustration to the left shows the Am pentatonic scale at the root note position. What I would like to do now is show you how to convert this scale to the A blues scale.
This illustration shows the A blues scale. We have added the Eb note to this scale. By adding this one note we can get a totally new sound. This illustration shows the notes of the A blues scale.
This illustration shows the suggested fingering for the A blues scale. Don't let this blues scale fool you, it is by far the most used scale in music today. 
This illustration shows another fingering pattern for the A blues scale. Notice that you play the A note with the 3 finger and then play the C note 3rd fret 1 finger.
