Play the C major scale and strum some of these chords while it is playing. The chords of C major should sound good on this scale.

Here's a progression using the C Am F and G chords. This is a popular progression to play for any key. It uses the 1st 6th 4th and 5th chords of the major key. Look at the illustration up top and notice these chords are in the key of C major.

The illustration above shows the notes of C major pentatonic and Am pentatonic. Am is the relative minor to C major. This means they share the same key signature and the same notes.
