Am pentatonic at G

Home Up Am pentatonic at C Am Pentatonic at D Am pentatonic at E Am at G 15th fret A minor open Am pentatonic at G Am at 19th fret

A minor pentatonic played at the 3rd fret orange circle will be the same notes and fingering pattern as the 15th fret. Once again every 12 frets the notes repeat. Look at the first orange circle above and notice the notes that make up that position. G-A C-D E-G A-C D-E G-A.

G A C D E

Below is what the tablature would look starting at the 3rd fret position.

--------------------------------3-5----
--------------------------3-5----------
-------------------2-5-----------------
-------------2-5-----------------------
-------3-5-----------------------------
-3-5-----------------------------------

The fingering is as follows 1-3, 1-3, 1-4, 1-4, 1-3, 1-3.

Notice above to the left the fingering that makes up this pattern. You start on the third fret 1 finger Low E string, then move to the 5th fret 3 finger Low E string.

So far all of the positions have been explained in detail. You should be able to figure out how to work through this position.  Remember it is the same fingering as the 15th fret A minor pentatonic. You can also play over the Am in this position, starting on the A note, 5th fret to the A note 5th fret high E string.

In the next lesson I would like to put the G position, root note position the C position, the D position and E position together. I will also be introducing the slide which will add to your tablature vocabulary. A minor pentatonic grouping.

Good Luck,
